Frequently asked questions
What role does Pontera play in the defined contribution space?
Pontera is a secure platform that allows plan participants’ trusted financial advisors to manage their workplace retirement accounts (401(k), 403(b), etc.) in-plan, without rollovers. This empowers participants to align their retirement savings with their overall wealth strategy while helping plans retain assets and deliver stronger outcomes.
What practices are put in place to protect participants?
Advisors cannot use the Pontera platform to engage in activities that could trigger custody, such as withdraw or transfer funds, change beneficiaries or contributions, or initiate distributions. They also cannot view client credentials, including logins and passwords.
Does Pontera replace recordkeepers or advisors?
No. Pontera is a technology partner, not a recordkeeper or advisory firm. It works alongside recordkeepers and financial advisors, offering a secure way for advisors to manage defined contribution accounts and improve participant experience.
What built-in safety protections exist?
Pontera is SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified. Auditable rebalancing records and purpose-built functionality give financial advisors peace of mind and ensure activity remains compliant with applicable regulations.
