Pontera joins FDATA: Advancing consumer data rights in financial services

Pontera is proud to announce our partnership with The Financial Data and Technology Association (FDATA), a global leader in championing consumer data rights and open finance. We’re joining a community of forward-thinking organizations, like Plaid, Intuit, and Yodlee, that share a fundamental belief: individuals should control their financial data and be empowered to use it freely, securely, and in pursuit of their personal goals.

We’re built on that very principle. At Pontera, our mission is to help Americans retire better by enabling advisors to manage clients’ 401(k)s just like any other asset in their portfolio. Central to this mission is a simple but powerful idea: consumers must have the ability to access and securely share their financial data with trusted professionals, using their own data to pursue their financial goals. That’s why we’re aligned with FDATA’s work advocating for a financial ecosystem that puts control in the hands of consumers.

“I’m delighted to welcome Pontera to the Financial Data and Technology Association of North America,” said Steve Boms, Executive Director of FDATA North America. “Pontera’s commitment to leveraging technology to better serve retirement savers across America aligns with FDATA’s core belief that that consumers should have the ability to access and share their financial data in all of their roles—including as investors and retirement accountholders.”

FDATA provides a critical network for dialogue between technology providers and policymakers to shape policies that support secure, user-directed data access. We’re excited to contribute our unique perspective to these efforts, and to work alongside FDATA to advance meaningful, consumer-first innovation in financial services.

On May 5, I’ll be attending FDATA Open Finance Summit 2025 in Washington, D.C. This event brings together policymakers, fintech leaders, and financial institutions to discuss the future of consumer-directed finance. We’ll be exploring the next wave of advancements in global financial services and banking, including regulatory modernization and building a secure and inclusive open finance ecosystem. If you are passionate about the future of consumer data rights, come find me there—I’d love to continue the conversation.

As open finance gains momentum in the U.S. and globally, we believe partnerships like the one between Pontera and FDATA are essential to ensuring that innovation serves the best interests of the very people it’s meant to support. We’re proud to contribute to the dialogue, particularly around ensuring secure and compliant data access, and ultimately helping consumers achieve retirement readiness.

Together with FDATA and like-minded organizations, Pontera is ready to shape the future of consumer-driven finance.
